Because I didn’t do so well with my 2018 reading goals, I’m glad to start off 2019 fresh with new resolutions! This year I want to keep my goals simple. My big plan is to read all of William Golding’s novels in 2019. William Golding is a new author to me – I haven’t even read his famous novel Lord of the Flies. But since he was a Nobel Laureate, I feel a bit intimidated about reading his novels! Oh well… We’ll see how I fare. 😀

I’m going to be reading and reviewing short stories as usual, but I’m going to go less crazy on the Everyman’s Library Pocket Classics Collection. Last year I definitely overdid it. And to read Golf Stories, what was I thinking?! 😀 So this year I’ll be focusing on more single-author anthologies.

I’m also planning on spending more time with NYRB Classics. I only read 3 NYRB Classics in 2018, and that made me realize how much I love and miss their books!
This is all I’ve planned for 2019. I hope I’ll be able to meet all my reading goals, but I’m not going to pull my hair out if I don’t! 😀
Wishing you all a fabulous 2019,
Love,
Nirmala
Don’t be intimidated by Golding. Granted that I’ve only read “Lord of the flies”, if I was to judge by that I’d say his writing is quite easy to read. Also, “Lord of the flies” is a short book so it ought not to be that much of a challenge.
Oh and I definitely can relate to not “pulling my hair out” if I don’t meet a challenge but I hope you fulfill your goals.

Thank you for boosting my morale! 🙂 I’m planning on working through Golding’s novels in the chronological order they were published, so I’ll be reading Lord of the Flies this month. Its premise is intriguing, and I feel like I’ll have a good time reading it.

I have a goal to read 50 books this year! Great post! It’d mean a lot if you checked mine out too xx

Good luck with your goal. Mine is to read 52. Let’s hope we’ll both meet our targets! 🙂

Good luck with your goals! I’ve only read Lord of the Flies, many years ago, which I thoroughly enjoyed and didn’t find was at all intimidating, so hopefully the rest of his books will be just as good and approachable. 😀

Thank you! It’s good to hear that you enjoyed Lord of the Flies. It makes me comfortable with my decision to read Golding’s books. 🙂

Happy new year, Nirmala. I hope you will be able to achieve your reading goals, but don’t be too hard on yourself if you don’t, or if you get sidetracked. I think that is part of the wonderful world of books: they always take us in directions we might never have planned.

I wish you the same, Tanja. Yes, that is true. Some of the books I read last year took me out of my comforts zones, and I liked most of it. 🙂
